Our league website was featured on Page 4 as the "Website that Works" and on Page 29, League President, Jon Diamond was featured for his selection into the Hall of Fame. PRESIDENT JON DIAMOND INDUCTED INTO MSBL NATIONAL HALL OF FAME

Congratulations to Boston MSBL President, Jon Diamond and Dallas MSBL President, Sam Kayea who were inducted into the National MSBL Hall of Fame Saturday night in Phoenix, Arizona. One of only sixteen MSBL HOF'ers nationwide, Diamond has led the Boston MABL/MSBL to be one of the largest amateur baseball organizations in the country. (Read the full article).

SEASON CELEBRATED AT MABL BANQUET

The MABL Awards Banquet was a success for the third straight year. Held at the McKeon Post, almost 20% of the MABL was present. Team and individual awards were presented. Additionally, video from the MABL World Series was watched.

MSBL WORLD SERIES IN ARIZONA FEATURES BOSTON TEAMS

The MABL/MSBL World Series takes place each year in Arizona so that teams across the country may compete on the nation's top fields. In 2000, Boston sent four teams to this event (the Boston United, MABL; the Boston Metro Stars, MSBL 30; Boston Metro, MSBL 40 and Boston Braves, MSBL 40). See overall pictures and daily recaps.

The MABL Boston United squad fared the best, going undefeated in their division and finishing 3rd overall. See Boston United pictures and highlights.

MSBL CHAMPIONS CROWNED
October 3 & 4, 2000
MSBL 40+ Playoff Results:

Duxbury Cardinals become 40+ Champions! Duxbury defeated Hyde Park 10-1 to win the series 2-1. Jeff Hubbard led the way Cardinals as they defeated the #1 Seed Braves. Hubbard pitched an outstanding 8 innings, allowing only 1 run on 4 hits, while Dave Joseph closed out the 9th inning. Cardinal offense was led by Pete Zalonis, Joe Fannuci and Paul Calvi.


MSBL 30+ Playoff Results:

Quincy Devil Rays are the Perry Division Champions! Quincy beat the South Shore Rangers 11-2 to win the series 2-1.

Duxbury Mets are the Booth Division Champions! Duxbury defeated Bridgewater 5-4 to win the series 2-1.
GAUVIN WINS PLAYOFF MVP TO GO WITH CY YOUNG AWARD

The Yankees' Bryan Gauvin was today selected as MABL Playoffs MVP. In addition to winning the MABL Cy Young for his regular season performance, Gauvin's pitching was the key to the Yankee's postseason success as he won 5 of the Yankees 7 playoff victories. In his 5-0 playoff record, Gauvin pitched a complete game in each outing while posting a 2.40 ERA and striking out 50 in 35 innings. Gauvin stepped it up in the Championship Series. While posting a 1.50 ERA, the Pirates batting average against Gauvin in 2 games was .182 (10-55). The Pirate's Eric August and Vinny Paquette hit .500 (6-12), while the rest of the Pirates had just 4 hits total over both games.
YANKEES CROWNED MABL CHAMPIONS
September 27, 2000
From 1997 to 1999, the Yankees advanced to the Final 4 twice and to the Finals once -- all three times, only to fall just short of a Championship. In 2000, the Yankees defeated the Pirates in four games to become the Boston Baseball League and MABL Champions!

Wednesday night, the Yankees defeated the Pirates 10-2 behind the solid pitching of Bryan Gauvin, who picked up the win and finished with a post-season record of 5-0 (11-0 overall). Mike Moloney, Jeff Coveney and Steve Wall all homered for the Yanks to help seal the victory and win the Championship. See write-ups from all the MABL Playoff games.

MSBL PLAYOFFS HEATING UP
September 26, 2000
MSBL 30+ Playoff Results:Perry Division: Quincy beat South Shore, 12-3; Booth Division: Duxbury 9 - Bridgwater 4. In the 40+ Division Hyde Park beat Brookline, 5-1; Duxbury defeated Brockton, 9-5. Hyde Park will face Duxbury in a 9 inning, 1 game playoff Thursday, September 28 at Fallon Field @ 7:15.

SEAN PITTMAN HITS RECORD 5 HOMERUNS ON THE DAY
August 14, 2000
The Blue Jays displayed arguably the wildest display of pure power in Boston MSBL history as they recorded split double header victories over Wellesley and Braintree. The Jays hit 4 homerun blasts in the opener against Wellesley, two by Sean Pittman. In the second game, the Jays hit 9 more homeruns with a few near near-misses. Sean Pittman hit three dingers in game two for a total of 5 homeruns in one day!! Not to be outdone were Mike Aten, who had 3 homeruns and Mike Williams who added 2 homeruns. Solo blasts were added by Mike Connolly, Paul Cosgrove and Larry Cibotti. Larry ended the day with 6 hits. Overall, the Blue Jays had 38 hits in 75 plate appearances on the day. Wow!!
VETERAN "OLD" STARS WIN ALL-STAR GAME OVER "NEW" STARS
August 13, 2000

In the MABL All-Star Game, the "New" All-Stars jumped out to an early first inning 1-0 lead with a solo homerun by Conrad Paquette, the league's leading homerun hitter. But the "Old" All-Stars quickly regained the lead for good after a two-run homerun by Brian Cooper. Coop also pitched 4 scoreless innings of relief to close the game.

MSBL ALL-STAR DAY EXTRAVAGANZA HELD
August 7, 2000
The MSBL 2000 All-Star Day Extravaganza was Saturday, August 5th at Legion Field. This extravaganza included a league BBQ, HR Derby, and All-Star Game. The Booth All-Stars defeated the Perry All-Stars 7-2. See the Box Score from the game.
LEAGUE TRYOUT DRAWS MORE THAN 200 HOPEFULS

New Player Tryouts for the 2000 season drew more than 200 participants between the three age divisions. Almost 100 were selected to teams. Top picks include:
