September 10th, 2005 - Senators drop game 1.

In game one of the Bay State semifinals, the Senators lose to the Astros 9-8. The Senators had many scoring opportunities but a few costly errors would be the difference.

The Astros struck first in the second scoring 1 on a walk and two singles. However, the Senators would answer back with 4 in the top of the 3rd. Clancy led off with a walk, followed by another walk by Ingram. John Crosby then loaded them up with a single. Dan Field plated two on an errant throw by the shortstop and Crosby would later score on another error by the shortstop off the bat of Lombardi. Field would eventually score on walks by Grasso and O'Donnell.

The Astros fought back in the bottom of the third plating 4 on a walk, 4 hits, a sac fly and an error. The Astros would get another 4 in the 4th on 4 hits and an error.

Down 9-4 in the 5th, the Senators would attempt a comeback. Dan Field and Peter Grasso notched back to back hits and Ackerson would load them up after being hit. Lombardi then stepped to the plate with bases loaded and drove in two on a hard single down the third base line. Ackerson would later score on an errant throw to second by the catcher.
The Senators would bring it to within 1 in the 6th. Ingram lead off with a single followed by a walk by Mejia. Crosby would load them up after being hit by a pitch. Ingram would be forced out at the plate on a hard shot to third off the bat of Dan Field. Grasso then plated the final run on a 6-3 putout.

September 1st, 2005 - Senators place 3rd in their first season!

After a sloppy loss to the Giants on Wednesday, the Senators came back in their second meeting to win and secure the 3rd seed in the 2005 MABL Playoffs.

Matt Coyne went the distance scattering 5 hits and striking out 5 while securing his 5th win in his last 5 chances.

Down 3-1 in the 6th, the Senator offense came alive. Dave Timmons led off with a walk. Rafael Mejia then singled to right. Dan Field sacrificed the runners to 2nd and 3rd but was safe at 1st on a throwing error. With bases loaded, Senators' rookie star Peter Grasso delivered a deep sac fly to left to bring the Senators within one. Ackerson then flied out to right and Joe Lombardi loaded them up again with a walk. With two strikes and two outs, on-base machine Jim O'Donnell delivered a clutch single to deep left center scoring two to put the Senators ahead for good. Victor Vega later chipped in with a 2 run double.

The Senators will square off against the 2nd place Astros in the first round.

August 28th, 2005 - With 2 decisive wins against the Grays and a tough loss by the Dodgers, the Senators have officially made the playoffs in their inaugural season.

Game 1:

The Senator bats finally awoke in the 4th on a leadoff double by John Howe. Dave Timmons eventually drove in Howe on a hard single to right. One run is all they would need as Jon Butler went the distance striking out 7 and surrendering only 2 hits.

Game 2:

The Senators continued right where they left off in game 1 belting out 18 runs on 18 hits. A misplayed ball with bases loaded in the 1st would again be the difference. Matt Coyne pitched 5 strong innings striking out 6 and giving up only 3 hits.

July 31st, 2005 - The Senators extend their winning streak to 4 (3-0 vs. expansion teams) with a win over the Padres.

After a rough first inning, Matt Coyne settled down and pitched a complete game striking out 9 with 3 coming in the top of the 7th.

In the 4th, Eric Clancy (1-2, 3B, 4RBI, 1R, SAC) brought the Senators within 1 with a 3 run triple to deep left. Dennis Ingram then tied it up with a sacrifice fly to left.

In the 5th, Ack (2-3, 2B, 1RBI, 1R, 1SB) led off with a single and then stole second. Joe Lombardi followed with a walk and Jim O'Donnell sacrificed the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Rafael Mejia (1-1, 2BB, 1R) walked and Ackerson then scored on an error. Clancy sealed the deal with a sacrifice fly to left.

July 30th, 2005 - Three represent the Senators at the MABL All-Star Game.

Peter Grasso, Greg Conant, and Jason Ackerson represented the Senators at the 2005 MABL ALL-Star game at LeLacheur Park. Ackerson started in right field and was 0-2 with 3 putouts. Grasso was 1-1 with an RBI. Conant rested the arm while Coach Timmons announced the players from the press box.



July 24th, 2005 - The Senators lose in the semi-finals of the Cooperstown Classic.

The Senators came up short in the semi-finals against the Brockton Reds (MIBL), the eventual winners of the Cooperstown Classic.

In pool play, The Senators lost to the MABL Marlins 5-3. John Howe pitched a complete game in a losing effort. Howe, Ingram, Field and Grasso each had multiple hit games.

In the second game of the day, the Senators beat the MABL Mariners 8-4. Dan Field pitched 5 strong innings and Jason Ackerson pitched the last 3. John Crosby and Dan Field each had 3 hits.

Due to the limited amount of runs allowed by the pitching staff, the Senators were the only MABL team to advance!

July 22nd, 2005 - The Senators head to the great hall.

The Senators will be travelling west this weekend to Cooperstown, NY for the 2005 MABL Cooperstown Classic tournament.

At 1:30PM on Saturday, the Senators will face the MABL Marlins in their first meeting of the year. Later that evening, the Senators will face the MABL Mariners at Doubleday Field.

Sunday's schedule will depend on the outcome of Saturday's games. Check back next week for an update on the results.

July 18th, 2005 - Grasso, Ackerson and Conant are selected to the All-Star game!

Peter Grasso, Jason Ackerson and Greg Conant will represent the first ever All-Stars in franchise history in being named to the 2005 MABL All-Star game.

The All-Star game will be played on Saturday, July 30th at LeLacheur Park, home of the Lowell Spinners, the single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Good luck!

July 17th, 2005 - Senators are back over .500 with a sweep of the Sox.

In game 1, Matt Coyne secured his first MABL win with a strong pitching performance vs. the expansion Red Sox. Coyne pitched a completed game while striking out 10.

At the plate, Dan Field led the offense with two doubles, an RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. Victor Vega also chipped in with two runs scored, a deep triple to left, an RBI and a walk. Jim O'Donnell brought his team leading OBP to .733 with 3 walks.

In game 2, the Senators came from behind once again scoring 1 to tie it in the 6th and 1 in the bottom of the 7th on a dramatic walk off triple by all-star Peter Grasso.

Starter Ken Pellegrini lasted 6 innings giving up only 4 runs. Newly acquired Ryan Dooley picked up the win shutting down the Red Sox in the 7th.

With two down in the 6th, the Senators scored 1 to tie it on a walk by Rafael Mejia and back to back singles by Jim O'Donnell and Eric Clancy.

In the bottom of the 7th with 2 strikes and 1 out, John Crosby delivered a clutch single. Hot hitting Peter Grasso then put the game away with a walk off triple.

July 11th, 2005 - Senators win a close one vs. the Royals.

Tied at 5, Senators star Peter Grasso led off the 6th with a double to deep left. Grasso then stole third and later scored on a sac fly by Joe Lombardi. Jon Butler picked up his first win in relief of rookie starter Ryan Dooley and Jason Ackerson notched his first save, shutting down the Royals in the 7th.

June 19th, 2005 - Senators get back to .500 with a win over the first place, undefeated Reds.

The Senators knocked off the previously unbeaten Reds behind a strong pitching performance by John Howe. Howe pitched a complete game scattering 7 hits and striking out 5 while only allowing 1 earned run.

At the plate, Eric Clancy had two hits including a 2 RBI double and one run scored. Peter Grasso also chipped in with 2 runs scored, 2 hits, a BB, an RBI and a SB. Dave Timmons collected 2 hits, scored once and added an RBI in the 7th.

June 5th, 2005 - Senators improved to 3-2 with a win over the Orioles.

The Senators win a shootout in extra innings. Kevin Szoke got his first start of the season, and after a rough first inning, settled down nicely. Greg Conant picked up the win in relief pitching 1.2 innings of shutout baseball. At the plate, John Howe broke out with 2 doubles, a home run, and 6 RBIs. Dan Field continued his hot streak, chipping in with 2 timely singles, 4 stolen bases, 3 RBIs and 2 walks.

June 1st, 2005 - Senators lose a heart-breaker to start off June.

The Senators jumped out early against the Yankees by scoring 3 runs in the first on a walk, 4 straight hits and a sacrifice fly. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to hold down the Yankees. On the mound, Greg Conant held the mighty Yanks to only 1 earned run on 7 hits while striking out 7 in 6.1 innings. In the end, two costly errors allowed the Yankees to creep back. At the plate, Dan Field and Peter Grasso each collected doubles and scored while stealing 3 total bases.

May 27th, 2005 - GAME VS. A's Postponed

The game scheduled for this evening vs. the A's at Ryan field has been postponed due to poor field conditions. The game will be made up at a later date.

May 22, 2005 - Senators suffer their first defeat

The Senators suffered their first franchise defeat at the hands of the Astros and the 2005 #1 draft pick Eric Harvey. Harvey allowed only one hit to Joe Lombardi over 7 innings. Greg Conant and Matt Coyne pitched well for the Senators allowing only 2 earned runs. Unfortunately, a few defensive miscues and a lack of offense hurt the Senator's chances of extending thier record to 3-0.

May 14, 2005 - SENATORS WIN 2nd STRAIGHT!

The Senators captured their second win in two days. Duane Tynes pitched 6 strong innings, striking out 10 and giving up 1 earned run in his MABL debut. Kevin Szoke pitched the 7th to record his first save of the season. The Senators offense was lead by Jason Ackerson who singled, walked, scored twice and had two stolen bases. John Howe also contributed with a key sac fly in the 6th which proved to be the game winner.

May 13, 2005 - SENATORS WIN!

Greg Conant pitched the Senators to their first franchise victory, striking out 4 and scattering 6 hits over 6 innings. The offense was lead by Dennis Ingram who delivered a two run single in the 3rd inning with two outs. Joe Lombardi chipped in with a clutch single in the 7th to drive in two runs. Dan Field also contributed with 2 hits, 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Matt Coyne closed out the game striking out 2.

May 10, 2005

Grays game rescheduled for Friday May 13th at Boston English HS The Senators will now play their first game against the Grays on the turf at Boston English HS. No metal cleats are allowed. Please bring sneakers or plastic/rubber spikes.

May 7, 2005

Game postponed...again!! Mother nature has spoiled the season opener once again. The Senators will now kick off the season Saturday, May 14th at 4PM against the Mariners.

April 28, 2005

New Recruits! Matt Coyne and Paul Schneider have signed on with the Senators. Matt was a referral from Eric Clancy, Peter Grasso and Dennis Ingram, and will prove to be an invaluable addition to the pitching staff, as well as serving a utility role at C, 1B and 3B. Paul Schneider, entering his 12th year in the MABL, brings a great deal of experience, skill and leadership to the young Senators team. Welcome!
