The Yankees with help from ace Bryan Gauvin shut down the White Sox to only 4 hits with 14 strikeouts. Dave Timmons (2), Murray Reed and Josh Gordon picked up the only hits for the Sox. Overall, only 3 Yankees runs were earned (1 to starter Scott Bevis, and 2 to reliever Josh Gordon), but even that would have been enough to put away the Sox.
The Sox highlight, however, was in the 4th inning when Frank Kowalski of the Yankees hit a bomb to right-center. It looked to be a sure homerun, but Zeph Varley threw a cannon back to Jon Mead at 2nd base who perfectly releayed to Dave Timmons at the dish who applied the tag for a bang-bang out at the plate.

The White Sox lost their Opening Day game to the Dodgers 15-3. Scott Bevis started the game and got no defensive support whatsoever as the Sox recorded 7 errors in an ugly 9-run second inning. Aside from that inning, both teams played almost evenly. Participation of mention include:
4/24 - Scrimmage - This past Saturday, the White Sox scrimmaged the Mets. While the Sox lost in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the ninth inning, 8-7, all pre-season training objectives were accomplished. Each position player got at least 2 plate appearances and each pitcher threw at least 1 inning.
