acquired 2000 New Player Draft

Scott Bevis joined the Whitesox after being the selected via the 2000 New Player Draft and led the White Sox in innings pitched (31) his rookie season -- a total he more than doubled in 2001 (62.2). In 2001, Bevis posted a very respectable 3.02 ERA. He led the squad in innings, making an appearance in 17 of the team's 25 games, as well as wins (7) and strikeouts (43). Bevis tossed two complete game shutouts this season: His best game was a 2-hit, 0-walk shutout versus the Diamondbacks on 8/05. However, his most memorable was his 3-hit shutout versus the Braves on 8/25 to allow the Sox to win the playoff wildcard game. Bevis is 2nd on the Sox All-Time list in many categories: Wins (9), ERA (4.11), Innings (93.2) and Saves (3). In an effort to find more playing time at the plate, and not just on the mound, Bevis opted for free agency and signed with the Cardinals after the 2001 season.

Appearances: 2001 Boston Dirt Dogs (AZ).
