Kevin Gazda joined the White Sox in 2000 via referral. After being away from the game for some time, Kevin quickly established himself as a phenomenal defensive backstop with great offensive pop. During his 2-year stint, Kevin led the team in nailing would-be base-stealers, and in one game against the Rockies his rookie season, threw out 2 baserunners in one game. Offensively, Gazda's best career game was against the Astros, where he went 3 for 4 with a homerun, double, 3 runs and 5 RBI. His best game in 2001 was versus the Braves on 7/21 where he went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and 3 RBI. Unfortunately, arm trouble forced Kevin to miss the majority of the second half of the 2001 season, and ultimately led to his early retirement at the end of the season.
