acquired 2000 New Player Draft

Kiant Hammond joined the Sox in 2000 via the New Player Draft. Kiant showed amazing potential with his blazing speed on the bases. In fact, in his rookie year, Kiant twice swiped multiple bases in a single game, once versus the Cardinals with the league's leading MVP vote-getter catching. That year, one of Kiant's more memorable moments was when he scored the winning run in an 8-7 victory over the division winning Rockies. However, in 2001, Hammond struggled and was released by the White Sox and signed by the Royals. Hammond went 2 for 6 in 3 games with the Royals, and then retired.
