| Jon Tsilimos #33 | pitcher / utility born June 14, 1977 resides Clevaland, OH school Tufts University, 1999 |
| Jon Tsilimos was acquired by the Whitesox in 1999
four games into the season. Joining the squad during a Dodgers game, the Sox had
never seen Tsilimos pitch. In the fifth inning of a game led by the Sox 6-3, the
team witnessed something likely never to be seen again. Tsilmos entered the game
with the bases loaded and no outs and did not allow any runs to score. In the next
two innings, the Dodgers again loaded the bases with no outs and failed to score.
Tsilimos picked up the save for the Sox' first win of the season. Tsilimos then went
on to capture half of the Sox total wins on the season, with four. He also led the
team in strikeouts with 33. In 2000, Tsilimos struck out 7 in 10 innings and also
batted .308, as his playing time was limited due to pursuit of a law degree. Tsilimos was regarded as the league's most skilled heckler. After retiring from the White Sox, Tsilimos received his degree from Boston College Law School in 2002. He then headed to Ohio where he put his degree to work, contributing considerable experience with asbestos litigation. Also in 2002, Tsilimos walked off the set of ABC's hit game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" with $64,000 in prize money. Newspapers claimed that he was "very animated."
