| Joe joined the White Sox during the winter of 2003 after being
referred by Jim Baldyga and Rob Gnoinski -- both teammates of his during his years
at Hartwick College. Primarily a catcher at Hartwick, Joe played outfield while playing
American Legion and that is primarily where he has played for the White Sox. Strong as an ox, in 2003, Joe did damage in the middle of the White Sox lineup, leading the team with a .429 slugging percentage. And during the 1-month stretch from 5/17/03 through 6/18/03, Joe batted an astronomical .636 with a homerun, double and 6 RBI. But this type of hitting went on all season, as Joe had two 3-hit games and three 2-hit games. And during a 2-game stretch with games versus the Orioles and Reds, Joe knocked in 100% of the RBIs recorded by the Sox in those games. With the game on the line, Joe was the guy you wanted to see at the plate. Joe's numbers may have been down in 2004, but he didn't play with any less intensity. Joe always got hits when they counted, as the Sox won every regular season game in which Joe reached based successfully. Joe stole his first career base in 2004. And also during the season, Joe played in the Cooperstown Classic at Doubleday Field. At this event, Joe was able to add to his credentials that he hit safely at the Baseball Hall of Fame.
