Eamonn McDonough

Eamonn was referred to the White Sox during the winter of 2003 by the Head Coach of the Clark University Baseball Team where he was their #2 pitcher as a freshman. As a freshman, McDonough led Clark in innings pitched with 60.1, strikeouts with 34 and fewest walks per 7 innings with less than 2. His sophomore season, Eamonn topped off the regular season by defeating WPI with 7 shutout innings.

In a White Sox jersey in 2003, his rookie season, Eamonn was masterful. In his first two games, he tossed 8 shutout innings in relief for a win versus the Marlins, and 5 no-hit innings versus the Mets. By season's end, Eamonn added a 3-hitter versus the Royals and a 2-hitter versus the Athletics to his resume. Eamonn finished the season 2nd in the league in innings pitched with 70.2, 3rd in strikeouts with 83 and 5th in ERA at 0.89. Eamonn was also named the starting pitcher in the MABL All-Star Game for the Atlantic Conference AND sang the National Anthem before the game. In only one season, Eamonn managed to climb to third on the White Sox All-Time list in strikeouts. Eamonn also demonstrated he could get the job done with the bat, as twice he contributed 2-hit performances at the plate: first versus the Diamondbacks, and later versus the Astros. He finished the season hitting .286. It was definitely a season worthy of Rookie of the Year consideration.

In 2004, Eamonn split time between with the White Sox and the Yawkey League Medford Mad Dogs and put together arguably the best pitching season displayed by any amateur pitcher in Boston. Eamonn tossed an unprecedented 9 shutouts overall, including 14 complete games, a 1-hitter, three 2-hitters, three 3-hitters and three 4-hitters. In the MABL, he finished the season a perfect 3-0, tossing shutouts versus both Atlantic Conference finalists, the Bluefish and Yankees. And the other 7 shutouts he tossed for the Yawkey league. Eamonn also put himself into the record books as having the lowest career ERA in MABL history. Similar to his rookie season, Eamonn once again demonstrated he could get the job done with the bat. In limited at bats, he homered versus the Astros, tripled versus the Mariners, and had 2 multi-hit games, finishing the season at a .500 clip. It is hard to imagine that Eamonn will only be getting better in season's to come.

Records: MABL All-Time leader, ERA (0.91), White Sox All-Time leader, ERA (0.91), White Sox All-Time single-season leader, ERA (0.89), Strikeouts (83), Innings Pitched (70.2).
