Will Bissonnette joined the White Sox in the winter
leading up to the 2005 season. Originally from Roslindale, MA, he attended Boston
Latin High School. Then, Will headed off to Wheaton College where he had a tremendous
collegiate career and helped the team win NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships
in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Will's junior year at Wheaton, he finished by hitting.320 with 39 runs scored, 25
RBI, 11 doubles and 27 walks. By senior year, as team captain, he drew a nation-best
50 walks and also led the nation in walks per game. Will batted .296 and was among
the team leaders in runs scored (46), RBI (42), doubles (14) and homeruns (6). That
year, Will played in the NEIBCA All-Star game at Fenway Park and also was recognized
by the NCAA for his complete season performance, earning a slot on the All New England,
All ECAC and All NEWMAC teams. By the time Will graduated, he held Wheaton's #1,
#3, #4 and #5 all-time single-season marks for walks, collecting 123 overall and
reaching base nearly half the time.
Will spent the 2004 season playing for Larkin's Club in the Park League, but is now
prepared to make an impact at the top of the Sox batting order and to the already
rock solid Sox infield.
