Ivan Clemente was a highly touted prospect at the 2004 MABL Draft and was selected by the Mariners as the #2 pick overall. And his rookie season did not disappoint. Ivan batted .318, carried a .400 on-base percentage, and helped gel the Mariners defense as their starting catcher. For his efforts, Ivan was selected to the MABL All-Star squad where he went 1 for 1 in his only plate appearance. By season's end, Ivan was voted 9th overall in MABL Rookie of the Year balloting. Prior to the White Sox, Ivan played D1 for the Hartford Hawks at the University of Hartford his freshman year. There, Ivan was named a member of The America East Academic Honor Roll, an honor received by any student-athlete who achieves a grade-point average of 3.0 or better during the season in which he competes. He then transferred to the University of Maryland where he graduated in 2002. In his first game for the White Sox, Ivan stroked a hit in his first at-bat, scored a few runs, and recorded a remarkable 15 putouts. Ivan is a strong catcher who manages the plate with authority and has a cannon arm. Ivan is a welcome addition to the White Sox.
