Bill Rivers

Bill Rivers joined the White Sox as skipper in 2006 after having managed the Royals for three prior years. By the end of 2006, Bill became the first Boston MABL skipper to ever lead two different teams to a Conference Title. Bill also held a regular season 62-40 career record as manager, a .608 winning percentage.

Rivers joined the MABL as a member of the Royals in 2001 as a player. That season, the Royals lost their first 18 games and went on to finished the season a dismal 3-22. In 2002, Bill converted from player to manager and improved his Royals to a 16-9 record -- good enough for 2nd place in the Atlantic West. Bill was recognized for this achievement, finishing 2nd in Manager of the Year voting.

In 2003, the Royals once again won 16 games in the regular season under Bill's leadership. This time, he led the Royals all the way to the Atlantic Conference Title, losing to the T's Pub Dodgers in the Finals. Bill took the 2004 season off to manage his personal responsibilities only to return again in 2005. The Royals finished 12-14 that season, struggling due primarily to the loss of several key players.

In 2006, Bill joined the White Sox and helped manage the Royals merger, taking over for Brett Rudy who had managed the team for nearly a decade. Bill once again he proved he was up for the task. This time, Bill led the White Sox to an 18-7 record and all the way to the Atlantic Conference Title, losing to the Reds in the Finals.

Bill Rivers will take the 2007 season off from baseball management to focus on his new position of fatherhood.
