John Byrne joined the White Sox as a free agent selection leading into the 2007 season. Byrne, one of the best hitters in Rochester Institute of Technology's history, moved to Boston in 2006 to take an engineering position with Reebok. Though he was out of baseball in 2006, he was back with a bang in 2007. Byrne's first game with the White Sox against the Orioles, he hit a 2-RBI double to left that still hasn't landed. Later in the season versus the Reds, he hit another blast double to score a few runs. John swung the bat in such a way that there was always potential for big things to happen. John's regular season ended in early August when Reebok sent him to China for several weeks. John also missed most of the playoffs, traveling to San Diego, Miami and Rochester for Reebok. Prior to the Sox at RIT, Byrne was named to the NCAA Division III ABCA/Rawlings All-Star Team in 2004. That year, the East Amherst, NY native led the team with a .407 batting average with seven doubles, five triples and 37 RBI, four short of a new school record. He also had a .611 slugging percentage, a .472 on-base percentage, and a .989 fielding percentage. He was named to the ECAC All-Star Team, All-Region Team and Empire 8 All-Conference Team. In 2005, he was once won Empire 8 All-Conference Team honors. Byrne is amongst the RIT All-Time leaders in batting average (.359), hits (121), RBI (81), doubles (32), homeruns (7), total bases (174), slugging percentage (.516). MABL Career Statistics:
