Nick Wesoky joined the White Sox out of the Player Pool on July 25, 2007, just before the new player deadline. With pitchers Chris Stone and Chris Falato on the disabled list and a few positional players also hurt, the White Sox needed a player who could pitch and play the field. Nick was exactly what the Sox were looking for. A recent transplant to the Boston area, Nick moved from Tucson Arizona were he had managed promotions for the Tucson Sidewinders (Triple A Affiliate to the Arizona Diamondbacks) for four years. Prior to that, Nick had finished up an internship with the Colorado Rockies' Corporate Sales & Marketing department. Nick was born and raised in Denver but moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona, where he graduated with a BA in Communication in 2001.
