Pookie Jackson was one of the early members of the Boston White
Sox. During the days when the White Sox won few games, Pookie would lighten the atmosphere.
One of those antics included once showing up to a game at Cleveland Circle in a truck
he was borrowing from Jose Canseco. As assistant equipment manager for the Boston
Red Sox, a position he still holds today, that was one of the perks.
In September, 2004, Pookie switched jobs with ESPN baseball analyst Harold Reynolds.
Jackson joined Peter Gammons and Karl Ravech on the Baseball Tonight desk while Reynolds
assisted Fenway Park equipment manager Joe Cochran. And
later in October, Pookie was introduced at Fenway Park when the Red Sox took the
field for the World Series. Pookie is now a member of the World Champion Boston Red
Sox. He has come a long way since his Boston White Sox days in the MABL. |
