Jeff Zielinski
#20 | outfield

born May 15, 1971

resides Brookline, MA

acquired 1998 Referral by B. Rudy

Jeff Zielinski was one of the best hitters in White Sox history. He is second best on the Sox All-Time list for career batting (.455), slugging (.673) and on-base average (.571). He is topped only by the infamous Mike Moloney in all three categories. Jeff's best single-day performance was easily in a doubleheader versus the 1999 Championship Pirates. During this set, Jeff picked up 7 hits in 8 trips. Prior to the 2000 season, Jeff was diagnosed with a rare illness that left him temporarily without the use of his legs. While Jeff continues to recover to this day, it is unfortunate that his playing days are likely over. Jeff is expected to enter the White Sox Hall of Fame some day.
